Where to Buy Vars Skyr in Cape Town: Four New Stores
When we started making skyr in our small kitchen in Kensington, almost every tub went out as an online order. Today we are proud to share that Vars Skyr is now on the shelves of four more much loved Cape Town stores: SPAR Cape Quarter, Giovanni's Deliworld, Palmyra Deli and Alphen KWIKSPAR. Together with Sea Point SPAR, Royal Ascot SuperSpar and Oranjezicht City Farm Market, you can now find us in seven places across the city.
Thank you to every store owner and manager who said yes to a small local producer.

Right on Somerset Road, in the Cape Quarter, this is the easiest stop if you live or work around De Waterkant, Green Point or the city centre. Grab a tub on your way home and breakfast for the next few days is sorted.
Giovanni's Deliworld, Green Point
A Main Road institution and a favourite with anyone who loves good food. We are genuinely chuffed to sit in the fridge at Giovanni's. Pick up a tub with your morning coffee.
Palmyra Deli, Claremont
On Palmyra Road in Claremont, handy if you are near Cavendish, Newlands or the Claremont offices. A great stop for a quick lunch and something healthy for tomorrow morning.
Alphen KWIKSPAR, Constantia
You will find us at Shop 13 in Old Constantia Village on Constantia Main Road. Perfect for a quick stop on the school run or after a walk in the Constantia greenbelts.
Why people are looking for us
Most people who try Vars Skyr for the first time are looking for one thing: a yoghurt with a lot of protein and nothing they do not need. Ours has two ingredients, skimmed milk and live cultures. It is strained until it is thick and creamy, which is where the 11.5 g of protein per 100 g comes from. No protein powder, no thickeners, no preservatives.
A 150 g bowl gives you about 17 g of protein. If you want to see how that compares with other yoghurts on South African shelves, read our comparison: Which yoghurt has the most protein in South Africa?
Three easy ways to start
Breakfast: a bowl of skyr with berries, a handful of oats and a drizzle of honey.
Snack: straight from the tub with a spoon, or with sliced apple and cinnamon.
Dinner: stirred through a stew at the end of cooking, like our high protein white bean chicken chili.
